Jinyoung Park, who returned to farming in Jeju Island in 2016 started tangerine farming in 2018. He decided to farm with eco-friendly methods from the start and studied by watching JADAM lectures on YouTube more than 50 times. Thanks to that, he was able to perfectly control Ruby scale insects, which are considered one of the most difficult pests in tangerine farming.
Ruby scales, which cause significant damage to Jeju tangerine trees, are such troublesome pests that even pesticide companies say they cannot control the adults. However, after successfully controlling Ruby scales this year with JADAM Microbial Pesticide (JMP), it feels like a new world of agriculture has opened up.
On the surface, it looks like Ruby scales are still stuck to the tangerines trees. However, if you press live Ruby scale, red body fluid comes out, whereas dead ones have turned into jelly gum or have fungus on their carcasses. On Mr. Jinyoung Park’s tangerine trees, not a single live scale insect could be found; they were all exterminated. It is said that there is nothing difficult in tangerine farming if you can just control citrus leafminers and Ruby scales. Now that he can successfully control Ruby scale insects, he is confident that a major change will occur in Jeju Island tangerine farming.
When making JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) initially, he went to an Oreum (volcanic cone) to leaf mold soil, but now there is no problem collecting it from around the tangerine field. He uses potato starch and utilizes seawater, taking advantage of the characteristics of the Jeju region, to culture JMS. At first, he suffered a lot because making JMS did not go well due to abnormal low temperatures, but after succeeding once, culturing continues to go well now. You should set the temperature to 32 degrees with a pig tail heater and not be bound by the “20-hour culturing” rule. Just culture JMS until bubbles become vigorous, whether it takes 2 days to 3 days.
