Termites are widely distributed across the world, particularly thriving in tropical and subtropical regions. However, with climate change and the expansion of international trade, damage is increasingly being reported even in temperate areas. To date, about 3,000 termite species have been identified, and several dozen of these are classified as major pests that cause direct damage to timber, crops, and forests.
Termites cause serious harm not only to wooden structures but also to fruit trees and crops. They feed on the roots and stems of staple grains such as sugarcane, corn, wheat, and rice, greatly reducing yields. They also invade the roots and stems of fruit trees such as citrus, grapes, mangoes, and bananas, sometimes killing the entire tree. This damage leads not only to decreased agricultural productivity but also to significant economic losses for farmers.
Termite control is difficult due to their habitat and lifestyle. They usually form colonies inside hidden spaces such as wood, roots, and plant stems, making them hard to detect from the outside. In addition, they live in large colonies centered around a queen, so eliminating only part of the colony does not eradicate the whole. Termites also prefer humid environments, creating moist habitats deep underground or inside wood, and move through soil tunnels—conditions that make it difficult for pesticides to reach them.
However, termites can be controlled through the JADAM method. For termites inhabiting timber, injecting JADAM Sulfur (JS) with a syringe into termite holes not only eliminates them but also acts as a repellent, ensuring that termites do not remain in the treated wood.
As shown in the video, JADAM Microbial Pesticide (JMP) has also proven effective against termites. It was observed that all termites died within 20 seconds of application.
