Gwangik Kim, Anseong, pear, 11 ac, 10 years of ultra-low cost agriculture
Mr. Kim has trees older than 100 years that produce fruits just the same. He showed the visitors a pear tree that was 105 years old and had 500 fruits dangling from it. Everybody was amazed.
How does the tree continue to be young and vigorous? Mr. Kim stresses the importance of no-till and cover crop. He didn't till his land for 7 years. It's been 3 years since he didn't even bring in any animal manure or compost but solely relies on cover crop. The pears tasted just gorgeous.
