JMS and Livestock

I understand that you can put the JMS on wheatbran and then dry it as described in the book for livestock. However I do not understand how to use it with chickens and pigs.
1. How often do you have to put the mixture on the floor and how much? (pigs, chickens, etc.)
2. Can you use other products to store the JMS other than wheatbran? Can I use charcoal, or spent grain from a brewery as this is more available and cheap.
3. How much do you add to the feed?
