using green leave muching instad of weed mat

when we do farming in tropical countries like Sri Lanka we use green leaves, grass leaves, banana trunk parts as mulching material for growing vegetable beds(Bird net mulching), Does it affect crop growth or soil nutrition availability?
If using green mulching and JMS, JLf liquid only without using compost can I grow well my vegetables for selling to the commercial markets?
