Oleander JHS vs Pokeweed JHS and what part of oleander plant to use
2023-07-27 06:56:44 | read: 8452
I have an abundance of pokeweek that is currently fruiting in my yard, my first question: I saw that another user mentioned that using the roots of pokeweed plant is best and I just wanted to confirm that is true. My second question: if that's true, what's the best way to dispose of the rest of the pokeweed if we only use the roots? For example, can it be used in a JLF at all, or maybe composted normally, maybe fed to a worm bin since they destroy pathogens and such... Any help on the topic would be great!
Third question, I think I added a decent amount of pokeweed and various other weeds to compost I made about 2 years ago when I bought my house. The compost finally looks really good and dark and homogenous, I was about to use it on a small new no till plot. is it safe to use if pokeweek was composted in the mixture? I think it's already been used in some places...
My fourth question: I was also curious if roots are always best when making JHS and what parts of the oleander plant I should use if I were to use that which I also have access too.
My fifth question is do I need to use JS or can I just use JHS and JWA alone? I made a 4 gallon batch of hemp seed oil JWA that works really well and can mix with that. No JS yet though.
My sixth question: what ratio do people normally mix oleander JHS into one gallon or liter of water and JWA, same question for pokeweed?

Thank you so much for everything ahead of time! JADAM is changing everything about how I grown my own food and I really can't wait to make more homemade solutions and help out friends in my community!

Pokeweed works best with its roots. The remaining residue can be used to make JLF. Composting is also possible.
You can also add a variety of weeds. Compost containing Pokeweed will not harm the soil.
Oleander can be used whole. Roughly, the root and fruit parts are most effective.
JHS+JWA cannot control crop fungi. JS needs to be added to control fungal diseases like powdery mildew and anthracnose.
