What is the purpose of the phyllite and red clay powder in JS? Is there a chemical reaction that is happening? I am very interested to know the reason behind adding them to the solution. Thank you.
I have red clay on my property under my sandy loam. Is there a method to liquify clay to mix with JS and to put on sandy soil for better water retention? See also https://www.gardenmyths.com/clay-improves-sandy-soil/

I know you don't need to use these to make JS. I hear it's not good to use Azomite to replace Phyllite powder. I still want to use minerals with JS for fruit color/taste, can I use basalt? glacial rock dust? What do you recommend?
Also, as far as "red clay" can I use Moroccan Red Clay?

You can make JS without phyllite and red clay powder. The reason for including these is to fortify JS with various mineral nutrients. For that reason, if you use JS, the color of the fruit will be richer, and the taste and sugar content will improve.
