summer fruit tortirx larva
Summer fruit tortrix occurs 3 to 4 times annually. It stays over winter as a larva in the gap of the bark of a tree. Those larvae start to come out from the harbor and eat bud in the blossom time. When the leaf folds out, it will be rolled up vertically and the larvae give damage inside. The size of the larva is small but it has a good appetite. It gnaws the surface of fruit so the value of fruit will decrease.

The first adults appear between the middle of May to the early June, the second adults appear between late June to the middle of July, the third adults appear between early August to late August, and the forth adults appear between late September to the middle of October. However, the density of generation rate is low.

Summer fruit tortrix adults harm bud of an apple tree in the germinating period and penetrate into its flower or flower custer. The adults which were hatched out in summer roll up the new shoot's fore-end and give damage. Moreover, it scratches the surface of the fruit. Therefore, the value of fruit falls down. Especially, if a leaf is closer to fruits, there will be serious damage.
