JWA- problems

Hello,
I am grateful for purchasing and studying your books, my understanding of soil health is much greater than it was prior to reading your books. Thank you.
I made a 20L batch of JWA and because I am located in a small country where chemicals are hard to find I substituted the 640g of potassium hydroxide with the available sodium hydroxide. After 3 days the mixture was not soft but hard like a brick. With the added water and mixing with a drill constantly for many hours I was able to break all the hard parts and was left with something like a tar consistency.
At this stage I boiled some of the JWA for 5 min to see if it would go back to a liquid form and it only slightly improved. Currently the texture is similar to peanut butter.
What can I do to save this batch of JWA?
Keep pushing your videos you are changing the world!
Best regards
Bill

    Potassium = Bronners liquid soap
    Sodium = Bronners bar soap

    Both dilute same in water which you have to do before applying to plants so makes little difference?

    You are not consuming it, so it matters little, use what is available,
    and/or cheaper?

    I don't really know, hard to find ingredients in stores here in US, have to look up drain cleaner ingredients online before buying from Home Depot. I used a potassium hydroxide 45% / water 55% drain cleaner that worked, but I question the water?

      Hello, For future reference I would not recommend your readers, students, gardeners, use sodium hydroxide when making JWA even if potassium hydroxide is NOT available.
      I believe I achieved a good viscosity however it took approximately 5 hours of mixing with a drill over 3 days and using additional 100 litres of water.
      Thank you

        Sodium hydroxide becomes hard and very difficult to dissolve in water.
        Add some more water and let it dissolve. This makes the JWA easy to use.
