Source plants for JHS
2022-03-16 12:20:49 | read: 3008
Hi,
Do I need to be careful about choosing plants that are poisonous to humans as the main plant input for my JHS? For example I have Milkweed, White Snakeroot (Ageratina altissima), poison hemlock and black nightshade locally available.

I am from the midwest  in the USA if anyone has some good plants they've found for using in JHS I'd love to hear.

Thanks

I haven't done all the tests on many poisonous plants, but I didn't feel any harm to humans by using the most poisonous plants, such as walnuts root and oleander. It is considered safe at the dilution ratio recommended by JADAM.

It is judged that the safest herbal plants are ginkgo biloba, fern, pork potato, and American ginseng. thank you.

Ah! There is one more thing. If you do not have herbal JHS, try increasing the amount of JWA to 25 to 30-fold dilutions. Most pests are killed. Here's another thing that enhances the effect. The addition of sodium hydroxide.

Thank you. Good to know. I may try to do some of my own experiments this summer with different plants and pests.

Brendan... I have experimented with the Sodium Hydroxide and I have found this ratio to be extremely effective against basically all soft bodied pests.... in 1 gallon of water mix 2TABELSPOONS of JWA and 2teaspoons of Sodium Hydroxide with 1 cup of Grass JLF... that is extremely effective and if you needed to you could double the amount of JWA
