Many people don't believe that organic rice is possible, but Mr. Ryu has proven otherwise for 9 years. He says it's actually easy if you succeed in early weed management. One of the things that he emphasizes is to plant the rice with enough space between them.

It's crucial that you return rice straw back to the soil. If you rely on chemical fertilizer instead of microbes and rice straw, the plants become weak and easily diseased. Excessive nitrogen makes the rice untasty.

Each row is wide apart. But the harvest is still no less.
Give generous space between the rows for sunlight and air flow. Even though the number of rice plants are small, the total harvest is not less compared to tightly packed rice fields. The rice plants are strong and do not fall in strong winds.
