The body length of winged Mealy plum aphid is around 1.5 mm. The color of its body is yellowish orange. Its feelers are black with six joints each but the button part of the third joints are green. Its head and chest are black and its legs are light green. Its cornicle is short and black. The body length of non-winged Mealy plum aphid is around 1.75 mm and it is long circle shaped. The color of its body is green and it is covered with wax powder. Its head is green and there is no frontal tubercle. The center of cornicle is shaped as a convex cylinder and black.

Mealy plum aphids stay the coldest season as eggs on the branches or stems of peach tree, plum tree, Japanese apricot tree and more. The aphid who wakes up from the egg continues to produce until late fall and occurs about 10 times a year. Its nymph is light green and covered with wax powder.

Mealy plum aphid adults and nymphs suck the plant's juice on the behind of leaves. Because those nymphs are covered with wax powder, the damaged leaf looks like covered by powdery mildew.
