The female adult scale's protective shell is around 2.5 mm, white and egg-shaped. The body length of the scale is around 2 mm and red brown. The shell of male adult scale is very smaller than the female one and it is white and egg-shaped. The nymphs and eggs are red brown and egg-shaped. 
 
It appears 3~ 4 times a year and stays the coldest season under the bark of a tree, fallen leaves,  the shell of female adult or as nymph. You can see eggs, nymphs and adults scales around June to September. After September, it goes into the hybernating stage under the female adult's shell.

First-instar nymph
From the middle of June or the late of June, the adults and nymphs stay on leaves, branches, stems, fruits and suck those juice. Damaged leaves have yellow spots and damaged fruits have black spots.
